Epitaxy Workshop 2026 in Freiburg

The German Epitaxy Workshop will take place in Buchholz near Freiburg from November 25 to 27, 2026, organized by Fraunhofer IAF.

The Epitaxy Workshop, formerly the DGKK + DEMBE Workshop, is an annual event that emerged from the DGKK (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kristallwachstum und Kristallzüchtung) Workshop on Epitaxy of III-V Semiconductors and the German MBE Workshop (DEMBE).

The workshop will feature scientific presentations on all topics related to epitaxy—including methods such as HVPE and sputter epitaxy—covering a broad variety of material classes (not restricted to III-V semiconductors), as well as an exhibition by industry partners. The goal is to foster the exchange of experience and expertise among German-speaking communities working on epitaxy. Contributions with an emphasis on methodological, technical, and practical aspects of epitaxy are particularly welcome.

This event continues the series of joint workshops for German-speaking communities working on metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE) and molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). Although starting as a general workshop on epitaxy of III-V semiconductors—including LPE and HVPE growth—in the late 1980s, the workshop later developed a focus on MOVPE, with only occasional contributions from other fields such as HVPE. After a long history of separate annual workshops, DGKK and DEMBE combined for the first time in Bremen in 2022, followed by Stuttgart in 2023, Berlin in 2024, and Magdeburg in 2025.
